Been a while since we last got caught by a new track by Magic Fades
, the Portland, Oregon duo that so far has turned a few heads for their instantly danceable, R&B-informed dark synthpop musings. "Basically Us" however is a wholly different affair, a slow-burning ballade that reminds us a bit of How To Dress Well
or Top Girls
and the likes. With heavy autotune employment and the bold use of the cheesiest sampled pan flutes imaginable, the track is aptly tagged as "severe depression". Nice one folks.
