Well, now this is something. Gimisum Family's 1994 smash Hit the Blunt and Frank Ouellette aka Hobo Cubes' Stone Pegasus, nicely melted together by, no less, fellow Montréalais d'Eon. Friday morning swag.
Stone Pegasus is taken from Hobo Cubes' latest, brilliant cassette Aerial Nocturnes which is out now on Digitalis. In case you've somehow missed the news, d'Eon has a split 12 inch together with NFOP darling Grimes named Darkbloom, already released by Hippos In Tanks together with Arbutus. Oh, and Gimisum Family is no more, we guess.

After his excellent Urban Gothic LP for the mighty mothership Not Not Fun, Austin's Xander Harris is about to drop a 12 inch for our favorite pure'n'sleazy disco imprint 100% Silk. Amanda plainly and effortlessly proves once again that there's no one even close to her impeccable taste right now (skeptics click here and here) - I Want More Than Blood is already stunning in its original album version, but this High Heels Remix just sums up everything we love about contemporary synth pop.
By the way, as already reported earlier this week on our Facebook page, you should head over to The Wire to stream another track from the Xander Harris 12 inch as well as a couple of other tunes from forthcoming NNF releases.
Keep an eye on this page for upcoming ordering details.

So. I'm not really sure what this is and thus what to do with it but it's dope so I'm gonna share it now. Actually, chances are there might not be that much to it anyway. This track was posted yesterday on the Soundcloud of a certain Denna Frances, you know, that mysterious woman who had taken care of the project Hype Williams before (?) the involvement of its current members Dean Blunt aka whoever and Inga Copeland. In other words, Can We appeared on Hype Williams' Soundcloud yesterday for a short period of time, but not as a HW tune but rather one by Inga Copeland alone. I don't really know if this is true but after all, this piece smells like HW, tastes like HW, and looks like HW, so we could just as well call it a Hype Williams tune. And of course it's awesome. Here you go:

Pleasantly surprised this morning to read the news over at our adored Friendship Bracelet that the dude's very own UUU Tapes is about to drop the Lovers Lane cassette by San Francisco artist Ivan Mairesse.
Mairesse's warm and fuzzy, distinctly lo-fi tunes perfectly fit my mood right now with the extremely contemplating vibe of the compositions that still showcase an incredible amount of songwriting craftsmanship without once trying too hard to sound relaxed and easy. This is simple, summery underwater psych pop, hence all we could ever ask for, as our devoted readers will know for sure.
Lovers Lane is out now via UUU Tapes, go here to order. You may also stream the whole album over at the artist's bandcamp.

It took quite a while, but now LA imprint Not Not Fun finally dropped the first proper full-length by Weyes Blood aka Natalie Mering (the sister of Raw Thrills/Greatest Hits/Gunk TV CEO/etc. and NFOP regular Zak Mering). Stylistically pretty uncommon for the label's roster, which is "part of what I love about it", in the words of NNF's Britt Brown, The Outside Room is a collection of noise-laden haunted folk, spellbinding in its beautiful fragility, perfectly excemplified by the seven and a half minute masterpiece Romneydale, a song that subtly builds up tension only with a single acoustic guitar and multiple layers of Natalie's amazingly deep, clear voice, before it collapses into a cloudy cacophony of bells that's evocative of the artist's past explorations in less harmonic drone. A brilliant, a gorgeous debut.
Edition of 480. Order your copy here.

Nicely deranged and slightly off-kilter synth pop here by Newcastle based Adam Parkinson aka Man With Feathers. The man seems to be rather into techno-ish stuff judging from his Soundcloud, but this tune (or this version, actually) kinda grabbed my attention the most, with Parkinson crooning over an almost minimal wave syntheziser melody. By the way, his cover of Wicked Game is weird but kinda cool, too.
