The friendly folks over at Sophomore Lounge Records sent over their upcoming release, a collaborative project between Kentucky folk hero Bonnie "Prince" Billy and Brooklyn psych group The Phantom Family Halo. The Mindeater is a 10 inch EP featuring four very restrained, contemporary folk compositions, with the title track being one of Billy's eeriest efforts in years, a stunning piece building on subtle, acoustic-guitar driven harmonic structures that abruptly come to an end to let the song gently fade with a wonderfully unexpected organ part.
The Mindeater 10 inch comes in a limited run of 1000 copies. Pre-order now over here.

"CSLSX are an experimental electro-collective ensemble based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania led by Harvey Culture. With members currently spread out across the United States, France, Hungary, and the United Kingdom, the collective exchange music and musical projects." (Source)
Found this on my favorite blog Relentless Noisemaker an hour ago and it totally made my morning. The dope video is already making its rounds right now, and in fact if I've encountered anything seriously fresh and hypeworthy recently, here it is. While I bet that "Harvey Culture" is about as alive and real as the certain Denna Frances Glass, and though I'm growing tired of all those pseudonyms and enigmas nowadays, I am willing to let it go as long as the music still convinces me, and oh dear it does. Keep on shining folks.

The Fader premiered the stellar b-side of enigmatic Manchester electronic project Christian AIDS' forthcoming 7 inch on Double Denim Records yesterday, and if anything it's safe to say that right now there aren't many artists out there who understand the business of making dark yet absolutely danceable and immensely compelling, decade-spanning jams as perfectly as this mysterious bunch, so what about you do yourself a favor and pre-order the beautiful piece over here. We promise you won't regret.

"North Mississippi Infotainment Cult" Cats Purring apparently has formed a supergroup aptly named Hits Incorporated, and below you can grab the collective's debut single which the nice folks dropped yesterday. Totally into this unashamed, sleazy pop perfection.

Philadelphia wunderkind Yohsuke Araki is quite a regular on these pages (last time only yesterday with his wonderful band Blackhawks), and in fact we got every reason to feature the works of this baby genius on a regular basis. That's why we're very proud tonight to announce the first proper release by Yohsuke's long-time solo project BAnanas Symphony: Two Sided is mostly a gathering of some of his finest gems that have already made some well-deserved blog rounds before, but above all it is the long-overdue re-assurance of the guy's immense musical talent.
The piece will be released May 10 via Alchemist Records on cassette, CD, and digital (that is the colorful cover art above). All further details can be found over here. Below, take an exclusive listen to the new BAnanas Symphony tune Free Kicks that simply includes everything we love about this music and that is in all its honest simplicity probably my favorite BS song to date.

Malibu Wands is one of the numerous creative monikers of the incredibly prolific William Cody Watson, and since the abandonment of Pink Priest it appears to be his main focus. Revolving around harsh noise and mesmerizing patterns of ambient sounds, Malibu Wands is Watson's most experimental project to date and one that's deliberately not an easy listen. Take Malibu Hounds (Skeptic Sleeper), one of four versions of Malibu Hounds which will all be bundled on an upcoming free release, a track that's an almost ten minute long trip into the outer realms of psychedelia. A seriously mind-altering, stunning experience.
Update: The whole EP is now available over here.
