Premiere: Sean Moore - “Love in Tongues”.

13 Jul 2011 — Henning Lahmann
Sean Moore, member of Florida dream pop duo Viernes, has never been satisfied with exploring only one particular field of music. Instead, he's always used different projects and monikers (the cool Estate Sale Boat, for example) to explore other sonic dimensions, never quite achieving to satisfy his thirst for something different. Recording under his own name, though, appears to be reserved for the really personal, intimate stuff that occasionally pops into Moore's mind. After last year's utterly wonderful song Ashley, dedicated to the girl he's married in March of this year, here's the brand new song Love in Tongues, an equally perfect, instantly uplifting pop song unrestrainedly rich in both instrumentation and arrangement, with a melody so helplessly optimistic that one or two might start to develop a gentle kind of jealousy towards this obviously happy man. Both Love in Tongues and Ashley will appear on Sean Moore's forthcoming full-length Fragile Age, a thing he's been working on for the last three and a half years and that's due sometime later this year. For the time being, go here to check out more of his stuff. Steffaloo: “The Red Runs Free”.

13 Jul 2011 — Tonje Thilesen
After releasing the gorgeous debut EP Meet Me In Montuak back in April, our very favourite LA resident Steph Thompson aka Steffaloo continues to impress with her dusty, soulful voice, this time accompanied by Pandit's washed out guitar playing in the background. Steffaloos very first vinyl release, On Fire is available for pre-order JAXART and will ship at the end of August, limited to 300 copies on marbled 7" vinyl. Grab one here. Say Hello to: The Apiary

Happy and excited to see that ex-The Road Goes Ever On mastermind/ex-Altered Zones contributor/still general magnificence Cameron Book has finally launched a new project. This time apparently it's a team effort, and the mysterious, beautifully designed and illustrated blog started yesterday with this heart-melting new song by our dearest Mauro Remiddi aka Porcelain Raft. Good to have you back Sir. And now get lost, but first be sure to check this. The New Lines: “Off Axis”.

11 Jul 2011 — Henning Lahmann
Been stoked the whole day now by this marvelous, 60s-leaning psych pop stomper and its absolutely appropriate accompanying video collage drenched in nostalgia that was dropped into my inbox by Princeton, New Jersey outfit The New Lines. Off Axis starts with a fantastic, drum and organ-dominated intro that's almost bold in its sheer length, meandering along for more than one and a half minutes before the song moves on to quickly become a cinematic, wide screened production with incredible rhythms and beautiful harmonies, always reminding of a myriad of early spy movie scores. Perfect. The tune is part of the band's forthcoming split 7 inch with fellow psych pop-infused, nostalgia-leaning group Still Corners, with whom they share their love for cinemascope, with an ethereal and gloomy soundscaping that's at times almost Lynch-esque. The vinyl will be dropped via The Great Pop Supplement anytime soon. Listen to both tracks below. NFOP Presents: Guerre.

11 Jul 2011 — Henning Lahmann
It has taken a little while, but now one of this year's most exciting new pop phenomena (see here) has finally arrived in Berlin: Tonight, our enthusiastically adored Aussie pal Lavurn Lee aka Guerre is performing his long-awaited in-store gig at the city's finest record dealer, Bis Auf's Messer - proudly presented by No Fear Of Pop. The glory starts at 8 pm, be sure not to come too late. The venue is located in Friedrichshain, right here. In related news, if you are in London don't dare to miss one of Guerre's two UK shows together with Sydney's excellent electro duo Fishing at the Old Blue Last in Shoreditch this Thursday, July 14. The other UK and very last European show is in Brighton on Friday. Needless to say, all of this is highly recommended. Hausu: “Makiadi”.

09 Jul 2011 — Henning Lahmann
Totally being on a serious new wave trip since this brand new Hausu gem dropped into my inbox sometime this week, another raw and rather dark-ish tune as usual mainly thanks to the vocalist's deep crooning that is, I know I've mentioned that before, almost creepy in its perfect Ian Curtis resemblance. Though I don't agree, I kinda dig that the Seattle Times referred to this as "power pop". Makiadi will appear on the Portland-based outfit's forthcoming self-titled three-track 7 inch that's gonna drop sometime soon via our dearest Portuguese boutique imprint LebensStrasse Records. Ordering details should be up here any day now. In other news, details about the guys' forthcoming West Coast-focused summer tour can be found over here. Lama: “Flashes”.

08 Jul 2011 — Tonje Thilesen
The Norwegian art rock outfit Lama have put away the once heavy guitars and seemingly brought in the microphone for good, resulting in a relatively different, but refreshing new sound to the Oslo based six-piece. As they so honestly admit themselves, it is not the first time Lama is renewing their sound — having been through periods of post-rock, electronica and jazz, however always to find themselves going back to that shoegazy, Mew inspired sound in the end. We've had a little pre-listen to the album (which is due to September 30th at Spoon Train), and can already assure that you will love it. Mathias Stubø, better known as Proviant Audio also had his own little touch on the single Flashes, which you can listen to below or snatch for free at Spoon Train's blog. Karma Vision: “Pizza Power”.

08 Jul 2011 — Henning Lahmann
Wonderfully psyched-out pop full of euphoria and positive energy coming to you straight out of Lawrence, Kansas. Karma Vision is the band of Bobby Sauder and four other dudes who all share an incredible amount of talent and musical craftsmanship. Their latest cassette Pizza Power is an eight-track psych candy that's shining in all colors of the rainbow, bubbling over with ideas that range somewhere between circa Sgt. Pepper's-era Beatles and the whole kaleidoscope of 70s sunshine extravaganza, leading to a seriously superb summery pop record all along. Pizza Power also the sixth release of Whatever Forever, a small tape imprint recently founded by Sauder and Karma Vision bandmate Rolf Petermann. Grab one of the 100 copies now over here. And if you've already stepped into the digital age and won't look back, Pizza Power is also available on CD via Workerbee Records.
