Premiere: Toy Camera - “Summer Days”.

12 Sep 2011 — Tonje Thilesen
(Co-premiere with No Modest Bear) The collaboration project Toy Camera between Canada's Drew Harris (Germany Germany) and the lovely Steph Thompson (Steffaloo) of the US west coast are back with a brand new gem for you all: the five-track EP Blissful Youth, combining Germany Germany's glitchy synthpop with Steffaloo's hazy, eternal vocals. Steffaloo also appeared on GG's "Just Go" from his album Adventures that was released on bandcamp back in May, which apparently lead to the first single "Tall Trees" under the fellow moniker Toy Camera briefly a month later. Félicia Atkinson: “Green & Grey”.

11 Sep 2011 — Tonje Thilesen

At the end of August the multimedia artist Félicia Atkinson dropped the mini album O-RE-GON via bandcamp, that was recorded on one rainy day in Oregon, Portland in July 2010. Containing two tracks that spins for approximately fifteen minutes each, Atkinson approaches a hidden space in time with her mellow, whispering voice and melancholic piano playing, completed with beautiful, ambient layers.

Pre-order the CD via Home Normal.

Video premiere: Solander - Flight.

11 Sep 2011 — Tonje Thilesen
Malmö's folk-pop trio Solander, whom recently released their second album Passing Mt. Satu via A Tenderversion Recording, are finally dropping the first official music video from the record, which we were lucky enough to get an exclusive premiere of. The whole thing was shot near the Tullgarn Castle south of Stockholm back in June by the Dutch filmmaker Iris Piers. Forget all about the cold season approaching us and embrace these lovely summer memories from Sweden's finest trio below. Naminé: “The Train”.

10 Sep 2011 — Tonje Thilesen
When we last heard from the Melbourne based producer Naminé, it was when he dropped his second EP Neon via bandcamp back in February, following the dreamy track "Spacific Ocean" of which you might remember was on repeat in the blogsphere last fall. The latest creation of Darcy Baylis might be a lot colder than what we've heard him producing so far, as he buries almost all traces of 'chillwave' and instead unveils a more minimal, less reverb-infused sound that already started to evolve throughout Neon. We're quite excited to hear what he's up to next. The Rest: Always On My Mind / The Last Day.

08 Sep 2011 — Tonje Thilesen
Last year we declared our love to the indie rock seven-piece The Rest and their lovely jam "John Huston", whom shortly after the hype suffered of an unfortunate hard drive loss of their almost finished debut record SEESAW, which obviously never saw its day of light. However, through the help of the same company whom are responsible for airplane black box recoveries, the material was miraculously brought back to life, and The Rest can happily announce that their debut will finally be released at the beginning of 2012 (yay!). Prior to the release, the band just put out a lovely A-side for free download through their bandcamp. The 12 inch LP of SEESAW (limited to 300 copies on blue 180 gram vinyl) will start shipping on February 1st at Auteur Recordings. Video: Hear Hums - “Shrines”

05 Sep 2011 — Tonje Thilesen

As the super-duo Mitch and Kenzie from Gainesville, FL stated in the e-mail: "we created the album art ourselves with crystals, moss fallen from trees, soil and pebbles". So, if the delicious album cover isn't enough to catch your interest, then Hear Hums' newest track and music video "Shrines" almost certainely will. The duo is just about to release their third album entitled Opens, which will be out on bandcamp in "late 2011".

If you haven't already, don't forget to check out their 2010 record Psyche Cycles, which you can download for free here.

:papercutz - “Disintegration (The Cure Cover)”.

04 Sep 2011 — Tonje Thilesen
Bruno Miguel, the frontman of Portuguese electronic/ambient outfit :papercutz just sent over this splendid new jam, which surprisingly enough turned out to be nothing less than a cover of The Cure's "Disintegration" from '89. It is exciting to hear Bruno experiment with bigger, less ambient-leaning sounds, and together with the ethereal vocals of Melissa Veras, the result is a shoegazing, electronic pop dream taken to a whole new level — without letting go of that particular atmosphere of the original.
