Deep Earth: “Kontraband”.

22 Nov 2011 — Henning Lahmann
Continuing to kill it these days, Minneapolis imprint Moon Glyph has dropped a massive split single (as massive as 7 inches can get, actually) between kosmische head bangers Food Pyramid and likeminded Chicago-based psych and kraut explorers Deep Earth, both already deservedly lauded on our pages. Below, listen to Deep Earth's side of the cake, a heavy, pretty straightforwardly sprawling synth chunk, hot and spicy yet surprisingly easy to digest, to a degree that I'm almost inclined to call it pop - which is, as we all know, never a bad thing. The Kollider / Kontraband 7 inch is now out on Moon Glyph. Order it here. Video: Lee Noble - “Parents”.

Watch the new video for Lee Noble's "Parents", another track from what without doubt is one of our favorite albums this year, Horrorism, released in October on Bathetic. Unfortunately, the LP is already sold out, but you should check the usual distros, there might be some copies left somewhere. If that doesn't help, at least Boomkat has the mp3 version of the album. Boy Friend: “Egyptian Wrinkle”.

21 Nov 2011 — Henning Lahmann
If you happen to be an avid reader of this blog you'll probably know that we're not really into posting something that has already been posted everywhere else, partly because we assume that if you seriously read NFOP, chances are that you'll also follow this blog, or this, this, this, this, or this one, and if not, really, you should, but on the other hand what do we know, maybe we actually are your number one and only source of musical information, then we might be facing an obligation here, and after all, we really love boyfriends, and in particular this one. Boy Friend's debut LP Egyptian Wrinkle will be out February 6 on Berlin via Venice (there has been some confusion about this fact, so we're glad to clear it up) label Hell, Yes! And just in case we haven't made our point, you should really, really listen to the gorgeously devastating title track below. Video Co-Premiere: The Kevin Costner Suicide Pact - “After the Trade”.

21 Nov 2011 — Henning Lahmann
Denver, Colorado ambient drone four-piece The Kevin Costner Suicide Pact, already guests on our pages early this year, have readied the follow-up to their incredible Decay cassette. Though the new work comprises no more than four tracks, the whole thing runs roughly over forty minutes, so I am tempted to call it an actual full-length. Anyway, apart from the digital release, Standstill will be put out on limited edition vinyl via Morning Pony, the new label associated with our beloved Colorado music collective Act So Big Forest. Below, take an exclusive look at the video for the mildly psychedelic, immensely contemplating LP opener "After the Trade", marvelously visualized by Rachel Evans. Pre-order Standstill now over here. This is a co-premiere with our friends over at Tome To The Weather Machine. Gross Bite: “Gold Lemurian, Mvt 1”.

21 Nov 2011 — Henning Lahmann
Back in June, we'd already reported on Yod, the incredible five-track EP by Gross Bite, the inter-continental collaboration comprising Paris-based project kikiilimikilii (whose very worthwhile EP Lumens we'd featured in April) and Boulder, Colorado drone and noise experimentalist Nathan Wheeler. The result of the trans-Atlantic exchange of ideas is a percussion-focused, noise-heavy masterpiece of aural art, thus something that couldn't for long slip the attention of Deep Tapes CEO Alex Gray, who now has stepped up to put out the overdue cassette release of said EP. You've already heard "Ruby", so here's another excellent track, "Gold Lemurian, Mvt 1". Highly recommended. Yod Cassette is out now on Deep Tapes. Top Girls: “I Know You Suffer”.

21 Nov 2011 — Henning Lahmann
North Carolina's Evan Adam sent over his latest Top Girls gem the other day, another mildly devastated piece of torn r'n'b, with the guy's now already signature muffled and distorted drum machine pattern underlying warm synth pads and Adam's beautifully layered, high-pitched vocals. "I Know You Suffer" is the second single off Top Girls' recently dropped We Will Rise EP, blessed with a complimentary remix by Police Academy 6 that may be streamed and downloaded over here. Video: Teams x AyGeeTee - “Untitled”.

21 Nov 2011 — Henning Lahmann
This one's been brewing for quite a while but now it's finally here, the very rad collab between London Town resident AyGeeTee and LA via Miami, Florida fellow Sean Bowie aka Teams, all condensed into four minutes and twenty seconds of sonic and visual extravaganza. What can we say, just enjoy. Speaking of Teams, we hope you've already noticed that he's about to bless our ancient continent with his esteemed presence. If not, go here right away (don't pass go) and do penance.
