You might be aware that we dig pretty much everything that has emerged from the Japanese underground as of late, and you might also remember that we were in particular raving about Hotel Mexico's late summer bliss "Dear Les Friends". The wonderful folks over at London's Double Denim Records just announced two new songs by the Kyoto outfit, released on 7 inch vinyl and now available for order right here, once again proving impeccable taste with which is now already the second Japanese band to be featured on the label, after last year's Jesse Ruins. Listen to the first song "A Space in the Loveless Field", a light-hearted tune just in time for the upcoming warmer days, perfect lo-fi glory that stylistically builds on the triumphant "Dear Les Friends".

It isn't exactly a small amount of digital or physical releases our Paris-born girl Felicia Atkinson has been putting out on her Bandcamp the past four years, both "solo" in addition to her other project Je Suis Le Petit Chevalier, born in upstate New York in the summer of 2010. On An Age Of Wonder, the newest vinyl release of Je Suis Le Petit Chevalier, miss Atkinson continues to float in her peculiar borderland between ambient and drone, darker and more hideous than what we remember from, for instance, Green & Grey.
An Age Of Wonder contains the tracks "Fever Dunes" (below) and "The First Forest", and can be pre-ordered on 12 inch green vinyl via La Station Radar/Shelter Press.

Absolutely intriguing animation for Piotr Kurek's "Coda", taken from the Polish experimentalist's recent cassette release Heat on Digitalis, about which we'd reported a little while ago. The deeply entrancing visuals that perfectly accompany Kurek's playful, organ-dominated arrangement were made by Magdalena Syboń.

Finally new transmissions from Michael McGregor's delightful Meadowlands project, some gentle ambient musings that were inspired by the last, unseasonably warm late winter days in NYC with apparently 63 degrees yesterday: "Made this jam last night and sitting here at work with the window open and the sun shining in, felt it kinda summed up the present atmosphere in the Big Apple so I figured I'd upload it." Well I've just made the transition into Celsius and had to realize that I can't really say the same thing about Berlin, though Spring definitely is on its way on both sides of the Atlantic, and in any case I'm glad he sent over these soothing minutes of heavenly contemplation, perfect to alleviate the pain after another week of hard work. Have a nice weekend folks.
