They say today is gonna be this year's warmest day so far, with temperatures well above mid summer average. So, to cool things off before they get too sticky let's turn to this brand new tune by Roanoke, Virginia quintet The Young Sinclairs. Their cover version of the Merle Haggard classic Running Kind is all nice and easy, slightly psychedelic folk, the perfect summery breeze just in time for the arrival of the happy season.

Riding some seriously chill waves here tonight on this distinctly laid-back lo-fi tune by Nebraska native Jake Hansen aka Cushion featuring the vocals of Nevada City, California's Golden Ego. Sure this ain't chillwave and we're glad about it, but nonetheless we got some honestly childhood memory-evoking piece of sonic art wrapped around our cerebrum right now, which in fact might be the result of the combination of The Oceanographer with this strangely apt racetrack video by Manchester's Dean Jagger. We don't know, but we think we'll go for another spin.

Last week, experimental label Type Records released New York minimal artist Ezekiel Honig's latest full-length Folding In On Itself, a splendid collection of ten ambient pieces, deeply contemplating and relaxing while at the same time being incredibly sophisticated and ambitiously constructed. Honig's music is probably the best example I've encountered lately to show how much you can achieve with astoundingly few means. The slowly meandering tracks disseminate a mildly melancholic atmosphere, seemingly en passant but without ever losing focus or carrying the listener away.

Brooklyn imprint Hippos In Tanks has just announced the signing of off-kilter disco enigma Physical Therapy. There won't be a release before fall, but to appropriately celebrate the occasion already the nice folks have dropped the artist's remix of Casual Diamond by Austin's Sleep ∞ Over, one of our favorite artists of the ever-growing and ever-improving HIT roster. And an essential remix it is.

Now that Los Angeles resident and long-standing NFOP darling Lee Noble is finally gettingthe props his fascinating work so much deserves, we've been more than delighted this morning to see that the dude is already about to drop his next cassette. Persona will be released by Bridgetown next month (most likely), and below you can listen to the album's first track to have surfaced. With its slow ambient patterns and wide spanning soundscapes, Carve an Image has all the splendid features that make Noble such an extraordinary artist.
