Lee Noble: “Carve an Image”.

06 May 2011 — Henning Lahmann
Now that Los Angeles resident and long-standing NFOP darling Lee Noble is finally getting the props his fascinating work so much deserves, we've been more than delighted this morning to see that the dude is already about to drop his next cassette. Persona will be released by Bridgetown next month (most likely), and below you can listen to the album's first track to have surfaced. With its slow ambient patterns and wide spanning soundscapes, Carve an Image has all the splendid features that make Noble such an extraordinary artist. Grimes: “Heartbeats (Laurel Halo Remix)”.

06 May 2011 — Henning Lahmann
Just accidentally stumbled across this spellbinding Laurel Halo treatment of Grimes' Heartbeats (taken from Halfaxa), and since we adore both artists and it appears to be the perfect day for amazing remixes, this slow-burning ambient jam is something you definitely shouldn't miss. Gatekeeper x Nowa Huta x Gatekeeper.

Two of our favorite Merok artists, Chicago/Brooklyn synth outfit Gatekeeper and London cold wave project Nowa Huta, have taken the day off to remix each other, with absolutely terrific results, just as you'd expect: Gatekeeper - Serpent (Nowa Huta Remix) Nowa Huta - Gang Waves (Gatekeeper Remix) Read more → Two of our favorite Merok artists, Chicago/Brooklyn synth outfit Gatekeeper and London cold wave project Nowa Huta, have taken the day off to remix each other, with absolutely terrific results, just as you'd expect: Gatekeeper - Serpent (Nowa Huta Remix) Nowa Huta - Gang Waves (Gatekeeper Remix)

Inga Copeland (Hype Williams): “Trample”.

06 May 2011 — Henning Lahmann
So this appears to have become the weapon of choice du jour of our ever-enigmatic London/Berlin superduo Hype Williams, to drop tunes without further ado and to let us believe those are Inga Copeland solo works. On the other hand, of course, this might just as well simply be the truth. In any case, just as with Can We, the track we'd posted a short while ago, stylistically speaking this is a Hype Williams tune, moreover, this one's a seriously brilliant Hype Williams tune, in fact the best I've come across in quite a while. Bonnie “Prince” Billy & The Phantom Family Halo.

The friendly folks over at Sophomore Lounge Records sent over their upcoming release, a collaborative project between Kentucky folk hero Bonnie "Prince" Billy and Brooklyn psych group The Phantom Family Halo. The Mindeater is a 10 inch EP featuring four very restrained, contemporary folk compositions, with the title track being one of Billy's eeriest efforts in years, a stunning piece building on subtle, acoustic-guitar driven harmonic structures that abruptly come to an end to let the song gently fade with a wonderfully unexpected organ part. The Mindeater 10 inch comes in a limited run of 1000 copies. Pre-order now over here. CSLSX: “Keep On Shining”.

05 May 2011 — Henning Lahmann
"CSLSX are an experimental electro-collective ensemble based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania led by Harvey Culture. With members currently spread out across the United States, France, Hungary, and the United Kingdom, the collective exchange music and musical projects." (Source) Found this on my favorite blog Relentless Noisemaker an hour ago and it totally made my morning. The dope video is already making its rounds right now, and in fact if I've encountered anything seriously fresh and hypeworthy recently, here it is. While I bet that "Harvey Culture" is about as alive and real as the certain Denna Frances Glass, and though I'm growing tired of all those pseudonyms and enigmas nowadays, I am willing to let it go as long as the music still convinces me, and oh dear it does. Keep on shining folks. CSLSX - Keep On Shining Read more → "CSLSX are an experimental electro-collective ensemble based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania led by Harvey Culture.
