Last Monday, we introduced you to Wax Idols, Oakland's one woman show for fine and captivating melodic girl punk pop, and after her blissful duet with Hanoi Janes, Heather posted a new tune off her upcoming tape on her tumblr last night. I guess All Too Human is actually the first opportunity to listen to one of her own songs the way she intended them to sound, shying away from jumping on the bandwagon to sound as overtly lo-fi as possible, which is kind of good news for my ears once in a while. Three minutes of pure joy and the best way to get the day started.
Wax Idols' cassette will be released by San Francisco's Psychic Snerts sometime soon.

Listen to another gem by Yuck: Daughter is taken off their debut tape EP Weakend, available for pre-order right now via Mirror Universe. The tune shows once more the rising band's unbelievable sense for despair put into the sweetest melodies. We're spellbound, again.

I guess we all know the story by now: The married couple Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley bought a boat and sailed around the US east coast and afterwards they formed a band to tell the world about their joie vivre, and accidentally or not it was an idea that should become one of the most cherished blog phenomena of 2k10: Tennis.
Now, our ever impeccable friends over at Underwater Peoples are gonna put out Tennis' impossibly wonderful bubble gum pop tune named Baltimore as a strictly limited 7 inch that is available for pre-order right here, and the a-side may be downloaded for free below.

Montreal's Arbutus Records artist Claire Boucher aka Grimes who we'd introduced earlier writing about her splendid debut tape Geidi Primes (which also received some well deserved Altered Zones love recently by GvB) has a new album forthcoming. Judging from the first released track Weregild, Dragvandil could be a little darker than her debut, and heading even further towards a witch house direction. Moreover, some aspects of the song strongly remind me of Zola Jesus. In any case, Dragvandil is definitely something to look forward to.

Ego Death is one of the manifold projects of Noah York from Calgary, Alberta, experimental psychedelia with a spiritual touch, slowly unfolding melodies built with sampled dark ambient noises, meandering guitar and synth patterns and noises crackling in the distance, evoking an otherworldly and mind-altering listening experience. Stunningly brilliant.
Ego Death's self-titled debut album is available for free via his bandcamp.

Listen to E, an unsettled and bustling synth piece taken from Basketball Nightmare's latestæthær, available for free via their bandcamp. After some comparatively calm explorations onto chill territory on Nervous Energy, the Wellington Auckland, NZ project has obviously taken off to enter the dancefloor. Why not.

Uh. Lighting up our world from so far away, Melbourne's Pageants have just left us dazzled, speechless, and insanely happy since we've stumbled across their amazing jangle-infused tropical sun-drenched guitar pop anthem Drink the World over at our ever exploring friends that are Rose Quartz.
After listening to this beauty about 20 times and after regaining control over your face which will inevitably have been frozen in a smile, I'd suggest you head over to the lovely Night People to order Pageants' self-titled C-20 tape. Or you just push repeat once again. God this is perfect.

I don't know if this is an intentional backlash, but the frustrated and irate moods Providence, Rhode Island's Dream Boat is evoking with Your Beaches does sound like some furious attack on all contemporary surf pop joy, spit out by someone who wasn't invited to the party. So do us a favour, take your board and leave. Now.
Your Beaches is included on Dream Boat's latest free split EP PALM together with Λ.
You can download Dream Boat's equally summer-happy As I Lay Dying Mixhere.
