Here's another new track arisen from Jonas Reinhardt's extremely prolific collaboration with Norwegian dance producer Thomas Moen Hermansen aka Prins Thomas, uploaded to the outfit's Soundcloud a couple of days ago. "Historic Loam" features more irresistibly meandering synth layers that indeed seem to be suitable for moving your feet along, though we admit that we haven't tried it ourselves.

After their excellent single "Slip Stich" that we'd featured back in April, Montréal four-piece Silver Dapple finally return with another foretaste from their forthcoming debut LP English Girlfriend (that's the cover art above), originally set for September already but now due November 25 as the first-ever release by the brand new, also Montréal-based imprint Forchristsake.
The video for "(Pauses)", just another brilliant, early 90s-dripping fuzz-pop gem with propulsive chord progressions behind a huge wall of noise, was done by one of our favorite visual artists, Frank Ouellette of Moduli TV. A terrific and absolutely appropriate trip back to good old VHS times (and in fact a little creepy, too).

I've been lying spellbound by the eerie incredibility of Haley Fohr aka Circuit Des Yeux's video for "Twenty & Dry" for quite a few days now, but tonight I think I've finally found enough words to write about this flawless masterpiece that so perfectly accompanies Fohr's raw and blunt, folk-informed chamber pop. It's been a while since I've last seen such constant alteration between slow-motion and fast-forward sequences, and again it's been implemented marvelously to depict the anxieties and fears that our modern times evoke. A disturbing, engrossing piece of art.
The whole album by Circuit Des Yeux, Portrait - already released by De Stijl Records - is a deep, enchanting, brilliant and also quite radical affair, a highly recommended record of slow-burning, emotive yet stripped contemporary folk experimentalism.
Order the LP over here.

Claes Strängberg, better known as the vocalist in the Swedish post-rock outfit Immanu Elhas been on constant repeat on my speakers this past week, and for a good reason indeed. Only accompanied by soft guitar playing, it is Claes' flawless voice and songwriting that caught my attention at first, breathing beauty into complete silence.
Let's cross our fingers that a physical release is planned to reach us soon, however in the meantime, you can grab a few of his tunes over at bandcamp for free of charge. Also, we will be co-presenting Immanu El and The Little Hands Of Asphalt in Oslo on November 4th, more about that here.

Beautiful and frightening beats from Canadian IDM artist Woulg aka Greg Debicki, whose most recent EP Floating Longingly Towards The Sun was released on Outlier Recordings yesterday. The six-tracked EP feels a little like getting involuntary undressed, with glitchy, industrial sounds exploring an immense space of purity and rawness at the same time. Definitely worth a dollar over at bandcamp.

I was pretty much blown away when director Daniel Rau (and co-director Marko Popadic) of Second Head Pictures sent me this stunning video below, which (I reckon) happens to be the newest single of the upcoming four-piece Hands from L.A. Pure beauty.

Breakers is finally here, and Gem Club's debut album is in every last nuance as magical and perfect as we had hoped (no matter what some others say, by the way). Make sure to get your copy of one of this year's most beautiful pieces of music by ordering the record over here - that is, if you're not one of the lucky winners of our little Gem Club competition that we had started last Friday.
Before embarking on their fall tour yesterday (go here for the dates), Christopher and Kristen picked their favorite: Loganlofi will get the whole package of Gem Club goodies. But because the two had a difficult time choosing they've furthermore selected three runner ups for a Breakers promo. Everyone will be notified via email soon.
So that being settled, prepare yourself for the new video for the album's second single "Twins", BriAnna Olson's latest work for Gem Club, as usual highly esthetic and of simple yet breathtaking beauty.

As many other talents within the Norwegian music scene, Philco Fiction too found their light of day through the community and streaming site of newly established (indie) acts, Urørt.no. It was here I heard Turid Solberg's voice for the first time a little over a year ago — a darker, Lykke Li-esque Philco Fiction, the kind of Philco Fiction that we got to know through their mini-album Give Us To The Lions that was released April 15th 2010.
One and a half year after the debut, the Oslo based trio are ready to drop their first full-lenght entitled Take It Personal, a record which in many ways continues on the same path as Give Us To The Lions. In addition to beautiful ballads such as "Finally" and "Portrait Of Silence" (which are perfect hideouts when the cold, Scandinavian winter darkness sneak in), Take It Personal unfolds a way more playful and poppy sound than ever before and is, if I dare to say, probably one of the most exciting names in pop that Norway has to offer this year.
The album will be available for streaming via our pals at The Line Of Best Fit on October 7th, while the official album release is set to October 14th on Brilliance Records. Also, head over to Soundcloud to listen to a few other tracks, including their splendid first single "Help!" which dropped back in May.
Listen and download their newest single "Horizon" exclusively below.
