Baksete is the moniker of singer-songwriter
Einar Stray (whom we've recently declared our love to), an experimental electronica project he started back in 2008, heavily inspired by the dark/drag scene. From mixing shoegazing ambient with fast, Kim Hiorthøy like beats in
Hello King, to messing around with ghost-like, dark synths in
Fuck Society; Stray once again proves to us what kind of talented musician he really is — as well as confirming to us all that it's not only the indie genre he handles with glance.
All though we haven't heard any new tunes from
Baksete other than the four tracks he've released for free at
Urørt, I cross my fingers for this being a project that will be kept alive in the nearest future, and not just a passing phase of his musical career.

So this is something,Never to be anymore.Wellington's
Matthew Holleman does not make music for the particularly light-hearted; but who is, after all.
On Hiding, his new album which is sold exclusively via the artist's
bandcamp, is among the most melancholic ones I've come across this year. Matt's songs express anxiety and fear and at times hopelessness, but at the same time the cathartic nature of the record, which "articulates an uncertain few years", never gets buried. With sparse instrumentation and vocals reminiscent of Justin Vernon's acclaimed works,
On Hiding is an outstanding effort by an extraordinarily talented songwriter.

These days, time seems to pass extra fast as I desperately try to keep up with everything happening around me. It feels just like yesterday the leaves were slowly losing their fresh, green colour, slowly beginning to absorb the golden touch of our sun; and I suddenly find myself standing in what is soon to be a landscape covered with snow and ice. Therefore, check out these chilly,
Trespassers William-like tunes of the Norwegian/French dreamy indie pop trio
Ben Born, as I (as usual) discovered a while back over at
Urørt, where you also can download some of their tracks for free. According to their
myspace, they are in the process of recording their second album — hopefully to be released sometime next year.

Brooklyn resident Patrick McIntyre, the dude who had blessed us with the splendid
Waiting 4U way back in June, finally returns with a finished EP recorded on behalf of his alias
HOUNDSds (yes, still puzzled as well).
The Technology of Love includes five new pieces of slow burning, dreamlike electronica, firmly standing in the 21st century yet taking a nostalgia-drenched look back, evoking blurred pictures of long-gone places. Listen to the title track below and get the whole thing over at
bandcamp.

Prudence Rees-Lee and Alex Nosek are
Hammocks and Honey, a Melbourne duo that has recorded the five songs of their debut EP
Spellbinder at a beach house over the course of a single weekend, and just as you'd expect from such a constellation, Hammocks and Honey's songs are lush pieces of purest dream pop, carried by Prudence's ethereal voice over Alex' pulsating beat works and a somewhat blurry, otherworldly and decade-transcending synth section.
Spellbinder is the first record to be released by Melbourne's
Special Award Records and is due November 22 on solid gold vinyl, limited to 250 copies. You can stream the whole EP already at the duo's
bandcamp.
