On September 28,
Arcade Sound Ltd. will finally put out
Blackbird Blackbird's brilliant debut LP
Summer Heart on vinyl, and to celebrate this mastermind Mikey S has released a new digital EP aptly named
Rarities, a collection of eight rare and unreleased songs. It can be downloaded for free via his
bandcamp.
Below, you can listen to two of the new tracks, the fuzzy synth ballad
Left To Hurt and
Understanding, a slowly meandering thick wall of layered synth sounds, a chillwave gem that might legitimately called an instant classic of its genre.

Our beloved friend
Emily Reo has sent over this brand new collaboration with Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts' experimental pop wizards
Truman Peyote from their forthcoming split 7 inch with
Attached Hands which is about to be put out by
Post Records.
Turn Into Feathers is a breathtaking expedition into sound, an honest liaison by two of this year's most exciting emerging artistic endeavours.
Additionally, Emily's spellbinding cassette
Witch Mtn, one of the finest things I've heard all year, is still available via
Breakfast of Champs Records. Below, get yourself mesmerized by the more than beautiful and mystical title track.

To assert this collaboration "makes sense" would be a blunt understatement - if you've listened to
my most recent mix, you'll already know what I mean. Two of our absolute favourites, Sydney's Lavurn Lee aka
Guerre and South Carolina's Evan Adams aka
Top Girls have finally taken the long overdue step and joined forces to combine their impeccable sense for slow-burning, dark and reduced rhythm and blues, and the result is nothing less than a masterpiece.
Waiting is like the last missing piece in the bigger picture when it comes this year's new music landscape.

Fielded is Chicago's Lindsay Anne Powell, and her dark experimental pop is playing just a little with recent "witch house" projects such as Zola Jesus: despite all the hauling, scary synth patterns and occasional goth elements like subtle chimes, Powell remains safely on a friendlier side.
Fielded's new album
Terrageist will be put out by
Catholic Tapes on September 7.

This morning I've found a tape by
Sealings in my mailbox (the physical one!) that Adam from UK's wonderful tiny
Tye Die Tapes generously sent across the North Sea. The four track self-titled cassette features roughly ten minutes of harsh yet melodic fuzzed-out garage pop by Sealings members Michael and Liam who blissfully maltreat their stringed instruments while being accompanied by a slightly distorted drum machine. Brilliant.
Listen to the tape's fourth track below and don't forget to order the cassette
over here.

"The artifact that has come to be known in laboratory vernacular as the Nitelab Lockbox is an audio compendium utilized not only as a standard reference by scholars everywhere, it was in its own time a vehicle for the public promotion of something we know simply as The Time-Traveler's Pocket Guidebook. The unveiling of these findings occurred only a short time after the release of this recording, which was as a relevant sidenote connected to another collaborating organization known, mysteriously, as Mirror Universe Tapes. The enclosed titles have been coordinated with their respective rates of oscillation, a factor we have concluded to be in some way symbolically significant or communicative." (1)
In other, more earth-bound words, Savannah, Georgia's Paul M Goerner aka
Magic Places is about to release his debut C30 tape
Nitelab Lockbox via
Mirror Universe, available for
pre-order now and shipping from August 24. Listen to two of Magic Places' beat-driven and sample-laden gems below -
The Bangkok Haircuts Society from the above mentioned cassette as well as the splendid and more ethereal tune
The Past and Future Are One, which is in fact the finished version of
Nitelab Lockbox's third track
Preteritus Et Posterus Unum (obviously), to be featured on a forthcoming LP named
The Time-Traveler's Pocket Guidebook.
