Nicholas James Alcock/Drew Auscherman: Self Titled.

27 Feb 2012 — Jesse Thompson
Nicholas James Alcock and Drew Auscherman's recent split cassette release features nearly 30 minutes of delicate, ambient compositions with sonic flight patterns shifting between moments of ominous observance and near-blissful acceptance of the space between yourself and the sprawling landscape around you. The style is something I wish George Fenton would have considered utilizing while creating his at times overly triumphant (albeit impressive) score for the epic nature documentary, Planet Earth. According to the duo, "'Moon' was composed with guitar and vocals [while] 'Rosie's Garden' and 'Hoops' are the products of Drew's Casio." The cassette can be ordered via email through the bandcamp page where you can also stream the entire release. Drew Auscherman - Hoops Update: You can now listen to Alcock's side via his Soundcloud, too: Read more → Nicholas James Alcock and Drew Auscherman's recent split cassette release features nearly 30 minutes of delicate, ambient compositions with sonic flight patterns shifting between moments of ominous observance and near-blissful acceptance of the space between yourself and the sprawling landscape around you. Video: Teaadora - “Change”.

27 Feb 2012 — Henning Lahmann
This might be a rather devastating way to start your week, but William Sarradet aka Count Backwards' video for Teaadora's "Change" is something you simply can't afford to miss. Perfectly capturing the haunting, forlorn atmosphere of the song, the video marvelously blends footage of the singer's recent performance at Chicago's Soundscrape and other, subtly sadness-evoking scenes. The track itself originally appeared on Baku Shad-do's #OCCUPYXMAS charity compilation late last year. You can still get it via bandcamp. Exclusive: Watch Money Perform a New Song.

25 Feb 2012 — Henning Lahmann
Manchester outfit Money, until recently a rather mysterious lot, whose devastating "Lonely Sexy Death" already made our best tracks of 2011 list, will finally drop another physical single (after Who's Going to Love You Now/Goodnight London on Sways Records) via French boutique imprint Almost Musique in mid-April. A few days ago, the band performed live in the studio of public broadcaster France Culture in Paris, where they debuted the song "SOLONG(GODISDEAD)", which will appear on said 7 inch. If so far you haven't come across Money and wonder what we're talking about, we'd like to straighten up things a little by directing you to Paul Lester: "Basically, if Manic Street Preachers at their most arty and pretentious (good things, we're sure you'll concur) came from Rusholme not Blackwood, they would be Money." Alright? Watch the video of the live session now exclusively below.

AyGeeTee: “September in Summertime”.

24 Feb 2012 — Henning Lahmann
It's been a while since we last heard a fresh transmission by London beat enigma AyGeeTee, so it's a pleasure to see him return with "September in Summertime" today, a seven and a half minute killer track that seems to mark a substantial shift in sound and that is surely among the producer's most compelling efforts yet. Listen to the densely layered and richly detailed arrangement that is both slow-burning and subtly menacing below. 2 Years of NFOP: No Modest Birthday Wishes.

23 Feb 2012 — NFOP
Two years ago, this little blog was spontaneously (really) founded in some Berlin Mitte bedroom, and since then No Fear Of Pop (yes, we've just linked to ourselves) has been growing steadily, received an incredible and quite surprising amount of love, won a lot of friends on- and offline, got a second editor, a new writer, and even a columnist from the other side of this planet. For the future, we'll all do our best to keep the site as diverse and interesting and nice as it hopefully has been so far. Thanks for reading, it means the world to us. To appropriately celebrate the occasion (apart from champagne), our oldest, best and truest blog friend Oskar of the wonderful No Modest Bear, who has done everything to support us in the last two years, especially in NFOP's rough and dilettante beginnings, has made a rad and smooth birthday mix for us and you to dance and be happy. Stay with us. 01 It's A Small World Disco - Vibes 02 Jensen Sportag - Diskoteq (Jensen Sportag endless reverb mix) 03 Luminodisco - Dinossa 04 The Project Club - Field of dreams (D-Pulse remix) 05 Roxy Music - Love is the drug (Todd Terje disco dub) 06 Slow Hands - Kreuzberg blues 07 Hal Incandenza - Fractal God mirage 08 George Benson - What's on your mind (soho808 something's going on edit) 09 Perseus - Running back to you 10 L'Equipe du Son - Lesson 1 (The Legendary 1979 Orchestra remix) Read more → Two years ago, this little blog was spontaneously (really) founded in some Berlin Mitte bedroom, and since then No Fear Of Pop (yes, we've just linked to ourselves) has been growing steadily, received an incredible and quite surprising amount of love, won a lot of friends on- and offline, got a second editor, a new writer, and even a columnist from the other side of this planet. Eliza and Parry: “Requiem for Regina”.

22 Feb 2012 — Henning Lahmann
Eliza and Parry is the moniker of Cammisa F. Buerhaus's solo recording project, which "has foundations in phenomenology, and explores disassociation vis-à-vis the loss of language". The weird and atonal but strangely mesmerizing "Requiem for Regina", a piece that follows a strict, robotic rhythm pattern that lays the ground for occasional noise disruptions and the artist's distant yet haunting and imperious alien vocalization, is part of Eliza and Parry's latest release, a self-titled cassette that comprises more delicately lo-fi, minimal electronic incursions and that is out via Fag Tapes. Sold out at the source already, but there are some copies left over at Fusetron. Eliza and Parry - Requiem for Regina Read more → Eliza and Parry is the moniker of Cammisa F.
