Stream: The Nag’s Head “Live From Concrete Island”

Pretty surprised by the lush and intriguingly varied Live From Concrete Island by the so far to me completely unbeknownst Brighton-based producer Stephen Maskell aka The Nag's Head, who describes his music as a combination of "field recordings, melody, every type of static interference known to man, some techno, spring-reverb, drones, wobbles and the occasional bit of crooning". I couldn't have summarised the full-length more appropriately, so I guess I should leave it at that. The twelve-track album apparently encompasses Maskell's work of some two years, which might explain the kaleidoscope-like diversion of styles, held together by the artist's compellingly far-reaching curiosity and playfulness. Some true gems are among the twelve pieces - I especially recommend you check out the immensely exuberant title track, as well as the more gritty, downbeat "Massive Bummer".
