It's that time again: Barcelona is calling Europe's young and pretty for the continent's most exciting festival. Primavera Sound 2011 will happen from Thursday, May 26, till Saturday, May 28, at Barcelona's Parc del Fòrum. As usual, Pitchfork, Vice, ATP, and Rockdelux will curate part of the amazing programme, all in all presenting more than 126 bands. To shed some light on the just about overwhelming lineup, we've decided to help our readers out with a compilation of NFOP-approved artists to make getting along during the three days a little easier. Of course, we wouldn't necessarily say that you should ignore all other bands. And as you'll see for yourself, there still remain some difficult choices to be made (Ford & Lopatin or Deerhunter? Kurt Vile or Gang Gang Dance? Prince Rama or Swans? God we don't know). Our schedule can be downloaded here in a neatly arranged pdf. Please note that the timetable is subject to correction.
Below, you'll also find two mixes of artists we're particularly stoked to see in Barcelona, we hope you'll enjoy. Last, we're delighted to see that our favorite radio station in the world WFMU is again going to broadcast a couple of live sets from the festival ground. So if you happen to be stuck in the US or anywhere else that is not Barcelona, make sure to tune in.

Vibe Tech once again provides proof that Mississippi never disappoints these days, as it's a tune that showcases some perfectly sundrenched psych-pop, with lush rhythms and horns and hazy vocals and everything else you could ever ask for.

Tulsa, Oklahoma imprint Digitalis has prepped a pretty exciting record, the debut LP by Chicago drone artist Jaime Fennelly under his new solo moniker Mind Over Mirrors. The Voice Rolling was recorded mainly using a medium-sized Indian harmonium, the sounds of which were subsequently processed with a tape echo and guitar pedals. The result is a fuzzy, incredibly rich and warm record that leaves the listener thoroughly mesmerized, lost in some immense and deeply unsettling psychedelic soundscapes.

We wouldn't have guessed this, but according to the impeccable folks over at Double Denim, South London beatsmith Felicita is actually a guy. One way or the other, the only really interesting thing here is that we're downright stoked on Datura/Mountaintop Experience, one of the freshest tracks the dude has put up on his Soundcloud, a nicely dark and gloomy, heavily layered and slowly rising piece of ambient electronica. It's been a while. One of my favorite Bands of 2010, and besides the first group this blog has ever written about, has finally readied a new 7 inch. Art Museums' three-track Dancing EP will be dropped June 28 via Slumberland, and the fine folks over at RSTB are absolutely right when declaring this "an essential single for 2011". This is summery, very 80s-leaning new wavey pop (even The Cure come to mind occasionally, barring the singing), cut short simply perfect pop music.

Chocolate Bobka's Michael McGregor sent over a few tunes the other day, and among them was this "instructional mood & environmental music for temporal transportation" by Meadowlands. So we're not entirely sure what this is, if this is gonna be a future release on McGregor's Curatorial Club or if this was even made by the master himself (there are some hints), but in any case this two-track set immediately grabbed my attention as I'm seriously fed up with sneezing and if listening to this should help in any way, I'm gonna stick with it for the rest of the summer.
While Pt. 2 is a 17-minute piece entirely consisting of moody field recordings, Music for Seasonal Allergy Relief Pt. 1 is a splendid piece of mellow, thoroughly relaxing ambience that in any case eases my anger against all those pollen that won't stop bothering me.
