Here's a brand new track by our relentlessly adored
Julian Lynch, taken from his forthcoming, highly anticipated album
Terra, due April 26 via
Underwater Peoples.
Back features gentle, clear acoustic guitar chord progressions and Lynch's accustomed and beloved hazy and blurred vocalization. A very restrained and sparsely instrumented song with a brief, dense culmination towards the end, and a beautiful thing all along.

Arms & Hands is a wonderfully meandering and finely tuned psych pop wonderland of a song, with nicely layered melodies and the heavy use of all kinds of pedals to give the track just the right amount of blurry, sundrenched feel to make you wish your new bike had already arrived so you could cruise through the city with this on your ears, over and over and over again.

Usually playing drums and guitar in the "ritualistic neo hippie spook folk collective"
Datashock (which also features Pascal Hector of
Meudiademorte Records), Christian Berghoff and Sebastian Haas from the placid town of Saarbrücken in the deepest southwest of Germany have recently formed
Pretty Lightning, a project likewise devoted to psychedelia yet more focused on pop structures (judging from the few cuts that have reached our ears so far) that all in all appears to be at least slightly reminiscent of earlier
Yeasayer or, even more strikingly,
Sleepy Sun. The great
Toddfather seems to be a fan, as he has asked the duo to contribute to this year's most unanticipated and unlikely compilation, Olde English Spelling Bee's
Should Have Been Dead on a Sunday Morning tribute to Creed.
This morning, the duo's first original effort has surfaced:

Brut Choir is a Little Rock, Arkansas-based duo consisting of the friends Everett Hagen and Jimmy Spice. The outfit is all about dark, noise-infused and cold wave-informed synth tunes that rely on direct and sharp drum machine patterns, deep organs, storms of distortion and a cool voice in the background. After putting some older songs on their
bandcamp recently, the guys were kind enough to send over some new, roughly mixed yet already absolutely intriguing material, among it the rather restrained
Tesla and the more brutal and dense, forceful
Orion. Brut Choir is about to self-release their stuff on tape and CD soon.
