After a couple of releases on RRR, Fag Tapes, and Chocolate Monk, his new C17 tape The Garden of Agony is yet another example of Collino's unique approach to contemporary noise - disharmonious, off-kilter violin works over brief snippets of different, undecipherable sounds on tape, heavily manipulated and then looped till eternity. The Neighborhood is the solo project of LA via Portland, Oregon artist Ryan Dolliver who, oddly enough, spent two years of touring as the live keyboarder for, oh yes, Hockey, before coming up with a bunch of own material that he subsequently started recording in California. The result is a six-track self-titled and self-released cassette, and after some initial skepticism this amazingly authentic, 80s dripping late night sleaziness has been on constant repeat on my stereo. Dolliver is planning on dropping his first full-length later this year, but till then cop his melancholic glam synth drama over here.

Next Thursday, April 14, and Sunday, April 17, Berlin will host A Benefit for Independence, the mini-festival that's accompanying the all2gethernow re:fresh weekend. all2gethernow is a Berlin-based "communal thinktank for future oriented music and creative industries and culture", and to ensure the non-profit initiative's future independence, all proceeds of the two nights will go to the organization.
NFOP is proud to present the second night together with Germany's best web radio station, Hamburg-based byte.fm, featuring live performances by Berlin residents Ampl:tude and, above all, California mastermind of all chopped'n'screwed glitch electronica Will Wiesenfeld aka Baths. The performances will start Sunday, April 17, at 9 p.m. and will stage at Watergate in Kreuzberg.

Here's the first cut from the upcoming C V L T S/Goodwillies split cassette on our dearest Kansas (currently Chicago, Illinois) imprint Solid Melts. The C V L T S track No Ghost is a terrific piece of merciless synth noise, with only a slow and eerie bassline and some almost melody-free acoustic guitar chords towards the end to ease the listener's anxiety. Already brilliant in itself, No Ghost becomes an outright masterpiece in combination with the (mildly NSFW) video by Synthesiae Films who turn the tune into the score for five minutes of Lynch-reminiscing visual psychedelia.

This one dropped into my inbox today, it is the work of some Jordan Garrett from Indianapolis, Indiana. Making music under the moniker Pale Suns, this is some excellent, true to the letter ambient/shoegaze thing, where every sound is processed through every single filter the world has to offer until almost nothing is left except for a single wall of noise, with some fading vocals and drums somewhere in the distance, and not a single ray of light shining through. This is late night music, and here it is very late already.

Heiner Seits aka Angela Aux, hailing from Munich, hit me up with his latest album Whatever You Guess It's Not this week, and though not everything on this pretty eclectic twelve track full-length (the artist himself calls it "weird kraut folk" and refers to Beck, Panda Bear, Why?, and Department of Eagles, no less) eventually could convince me, the album closer You Is A Tree immediately stuck in my head the whole day with its slow burning, eerie melody and Seits' harmony-laden, reverberated vocals.
Whatever You Guess It's Not is out April 29 via Red Can Records. Angela Aux will play at Schokoladen in Berlin Mitte next Thursday, April 14.

Here's a brand new tune by Luxembourg beat wizard Victor Ferreira aka Sun Glitters whose first few tracks made some astonishing and well-deserved blog rounds lately. Cosmic Oceans is another sundrenched (sorry), dense and absolutely sample-heavy electronic gem, only this time the vocals Ferreira distinctly manipulates are those of our adored LA folk songstress Steph Thompson aka Steffaloo (whose recent effort Meet Me in Montauk you definitely shouldn't miss by the way). Just beautiful.

Our pals from down under at Rose Quartz kindly reminded us this morning that we wanted to prepare a little piece about Casino Gardens, the project of Columbus, Ohio native Byron Ferrari who we had introduced to our esteemed readership back in November (hence last century in internet time) when he was still recording under his Young Heat moniker. Anyway, a few weeks ago he sent over a few new tracks and announced his name change, along with the notification of a forthcoming release sometime soon. So, that particular thing has arrived now. The eleven track self-titled digital album is available over here and still sounds slightly like Matt Mondanile used to sound before he started sounding more like his band, and with summer ahead that is just the music we've been waiting for to take with us to the nearest park.
