Alligator Indian: “Dark Fruit”.

16 Apr 2012 — Henning Lahmann
Originally hailing from Orlando, Florida, male/female duo Alligator Indian aka Christian Church and Spooky Bubble probably needed the relative Appalachian remoteness of Asheville, North Carolina - a city so outstanding on so many levels it requires a special segment on Wikipedia - to truly mature their music's splendid weirdness. "Dark Fruit", the first advance single off the duo's proper debut album Spring I'm In, is a slow-burning, thoroughly surreal and off-kilter affair, with both the musicians' vocals slightly out of tune, intermingled with a blend of layered patterns of cheaply sounding, analog synth, and a simple yet perfectly suited rhythm section, a combination that might come across as confusing and a bit messy at first before slowly yet steadily unfurling its whole peculiar magic. Alligator Indian's debut LP Spring I’m In will be out soon via San Diego's Bleeding Gold Records. Alligator Indian - Dark Fruit
