The sun was high. The warm sand felt good on your feet, and while you were watching your kids' cheerful games, the sound of gently breaking waves made you drowsy, guiding you into a relaxing nap on the beach. But the second you woke up, you realized something had changed, something was terribly wrong. Where had all the cheering gone? Where was everybody? And - what was that thing over there, slowly walking into the ocean?
Though we might be lucky and this poorest vision of a horror movie will never be actually shot, in any case, Santa Cruz, California's Austin Wood aka
Atlantic at Pacific has already written the score. His debut
Weddings is a stunning piece of twisted surf hypnagogia, laid back yet somehow enigmatically dark, as if Wood wanted to warn us not to trust the summer's amenities.
Weddings will be out August 24 on
Alchemist Records.
