Earl Sweatshirt “Hive”

“Hive” is the latest track to surface from Earl Sweatshirt’s forthcoming album, Doris. It’s a characteristically sparse track, with little more than a bass line, drum claps, and the occasional choir sample. But, in spite (or maybe because) of the fact that it only offers up the barest essentials of a hip-hop track, “Hive” is deliriously addictive, showcasing Earl’s remarkable abilities as a rapper. Rounded out by an appearance from Casey Veggies and a fantastic guest verse from Vince Staples, “Hive” points to Doris being one of the more invigorating hip-hop releases of 2013.
