New York solo artist Gabrielle Smith creates dreary folk as
Eskimeaux, a project which I've been obsessed with ever since hearing her last LP
Two Mountains. Over a year later Smith is back with a new one entitled, cryptically, "Untitled, Part I", and it's a beauty. Starting off a capella, Smith's smooth and reverb-soaked vocals are the backbone of the entire song, which builds and builds from the addition of reed instruments and strings and finally sharp electronic drums. Her new album is coming soon, and we can't wait for it.
