Introducing: Paul A Rosales

Though Paul Andrew Rosales from Orange City, California, has a decent myspace, it has turned out that it's still actually not very easy to track him down, as he also has another one. So when I first tried to reach him after posting his wonderful Crimes on my first All My Friends mix two weeks ago, I obviously caught the wrong one, though www.myspace.com/paul_a_rosales appeared to be right on such a blatant level.

In any case, long story cut short, it needed Paul's intervention to get in touch with me, and now everyone's happy. Yesterday saw the release of Paul A Rosales' first proper LP Wonder Wheel I on Care In The Community Recordings, which is in fact a collection of tunes that have been recorded between 2006 and 2009. The twelve tracks are pretty lo-fi, but in line with the other seriously gifted artists of his class (yes, you may think of Nite Jewel now), the recording technique does not appear as a mere means to show off insipid nostalgia, but rather seems to be an honest and distinct approach to music itself, and in this case the result is a stunning and beautiful collection of songs with a perfect pop sensibility that won't leave your head for days - She Tells Me and Purple will give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Wonder Wheel I is an amazing introduction to a very talented young artist and highly recommended, and rumor has it that we won't have to wait too long to hear more.
