Julian Lynch “Gloves”

You’ve got to love Julian Lynch. You never know what instrument is going to enter the mix next. While last month’s previewed track "Carios Kelleyi I" from Lynch’s upcoming album Lines was driven by a softly plucked acoustic guitar, "Gloves" moves along a bed of crunchy bass, accordion breathes, and staccato drum taps. And then that near-psychedelic guitar comes screaming in right at the end to finish out the song’s short two-and-a-half minute duration.

From what we’ve heard so far, this new album will likely be 10 tracks, using no less than 100 different instruments, and will still manage to sound as consistent from track-to-track as an album of minimalist pop songs. It’s that Julian Lynch production style, and it keeps proving itself with every release.
