Safiyya “The rejection and betrayal of Khairiah, the crone”

For those of you who are still puzzled by this sort of music (I know who you are), here's some instructions: basically, there are none to follow. Put this on your headphones. Get lost. Don't bother. Like, put on your raincoat, head out into this mid-October misery, stroll along those colourful trees, and forget about the weather, no, forget about everything around you. After a while, you'll start marvelling over the rich sonic details of a composition like "The rejection and betrayal of Khairiah, the crone" automatically, and rather sooner than later you'll begin to understand: it's the resonance of planet Earth that's channelled through music like this, it's organic in a way that evades straightforward perception. In this very sense, it is sublime.

"The rejection and betrayal of Khairiah, the crone" is the a-side of Shareek Hayaat, the forthcoming sophomore full-length of Safiyya, a duo made up of Kelippah Records head Pat Murano, member of the No Neck Blues Band, and the great Brad Rose aka The North Sea aka Charlatan, known to the readers of this site mainly as the man behind one of our favourite labels, the much-acclaimed Digitalis.
