24 Mar 2010 — NFOP

You haven't been invited to this year's SXSW music festival? Poor you! Well, actually, this is something we have in common. Anyway, that shouldn't keep us from having a closer look on what's been hot last week in the Southwest. It's already three days after the music industry's summit in Austin, Texas, so it is time to take stock of what has happend at
SXSW 2010 with the latest edition of the NFOP Radio Show.
The festival had easily more than 1.400 acts performing on over eighty stages in downtown Austin, so one shouldn't even try not to lose track. When it comes to decide which artists have been "relevant" or "outstanding", the rather odd thing is that the important and influential media
usually decide about this in advance. Thus, the selection below is not only just a small sample of who might be considered a promising new artist, but in addition inevitably biased by individual conception of significance. In any case, I've tried to focus on bands that have not released a proper album yet.
You can listen to the show either via the embedded player on top of this page (recommended) or
here.
Listening note: The show is streamed via 8tracks. Their license requires a mix to be shuffled the second time someone listens to it. Moreover, the number of tracks the user can skip while listening to a mix is limited.
