Tokyo's Taka Noda doesn't come across as the kind of artist who would unveil a new piece before it's all ripe and perfected, and each and every single track of the arrangement sounds just as intended. This of course is a method that inevitably results in what might be considered a somewhat slow output, with only a new tune every other day, but in our times of excessive production and exaggerated buzz, this is actually nothing short of a relief. In fact, and without getting all overly excited here, Noda's work under his Mystica Tribe guise so far for me is among the most intriguing and engaging music of its kind out there right now, which would be something between dub and more straight house, restrained and intricate and skillful, headphone music that should nonetheless please any crowd on the dancefloor. Here's an enchanting track from the Padang Food Tigers titled "For Esmé". It's off their upcoming Ready Country Nimbus LP, which is being released by the wonderfully eclectic, Asheville, North Carolina based cassette and vinyl label Bathetic Records. The video, which was directed by Mark Kuykendall, is a perfectly charming accompaniment to the song's pensive, slightly wistful nature. Using what I assume is found footage, Kuykendall's visuals work well to enhance the already present nostalgia that the song itself conjures up, yielding a wonderfully fluid result.

There were days turning into weeks where I would listen to nothing but Blithe Field's Beautiful Wave '74 that I randomly stumbled upon on Bandcamp back in 2010, a beautiful and fragile album with some of the warmest and most honest bedroom pop I had heard in a while.
