We suppose you've already been vibing hard to "You Must Be Dreaming", the a-side of the first 7" by Limited, the synth-friendly new project by Big Troubles member Alex Craig - if not, please do so at your earliest convenience. In any case, you may now also listen to the single's equally lush and exuberant b-side "New Day Rising", a song that comes complete with cheesy 80s hard rock guitar solos and even greasier synth lines. Just don't feel inclined to vote for that guy who resembles a Wall Street broker circa 1987.
Following their wonderfully organic fourth release Two Mountains, the sincere pop melodies of Philadelphia duo Eskimeaux return with yet another beautiful work of art, based on a collection of demos that have been re-worked into "sonically cohesive, fully formed, calcified and crystallized songs", resulting into their second full-lenght Eskimeaux. Comparing this to their earlier works, vocalist Gabriella Smith receives company of a faint, but significally more computer-based production, in many ways like an isolated child of Hundred Waters, but sulked in a more organic, almost anatomical tonal structure. Smith also has a way of presenting her music as effortlessly intellectual, something that draws her and the experimental pop of Julia Holter closer together as composers.
We've been following Bristol producer Kinlaw's steady progress since the very beginning of 2012, and it is a pleasure to see the young producer developing a style of his own that is as much 'now' as it feels timeless. The deranged hip hop beats and off-kilter samples create a dark, gloomy atmosphere that nonetheless couldn't be further afar from generic witch house and its disciples. The new tape Chorus † Mysticus is another case in point, a nine-track transmission of slow-burning electronics that take their inspiration not only from hip hop and UK bass but just as much from post-rock or 90s charts music, resulting in a piece of cinematic outsider pop that is his most coherent and indeed best work yet. Delicate Atlanta synth pop duo Featureless Ghost have finally readied their much-anticipated proper debut LP. Personality Matrix is set to feature your recommended daily amount of outré synthesizer musings that are much more refined and sophisticated than your average dosis of retromaniac Mausian weirdo derivatives. Just like before, it's especially the candid male/female vocal juxtaposition that sets the record apart from most of its contemporaries. patten's immensely intriguing cassette imprint Kaleidoscope continues with its output of astonishing, highly conceptual string of sonic art with its third release, Vanilla Hammer's Retreat. Sadly, the strictly limited edition of five (5!) actual tapes sold out in the blink of an eye last night, but nonetheless it seems worthwhile to recap the imprint's compelling approach:
"The seven tracks were produced in a master version (available digitally) which was then re-performed live directly to the first tape. An exquisite corpse-like process followed, with each subsequent cassette a remixing/reworking of the material from the former, again directly through to tape."
Or in other words, you'd need to get your hands on all five tapes in order to really grasp the concept and to be able to appreciate it. Nonetheless, the 'music in itself', whatever that might mean within this context, definitely is interesting enough to deserve your attention, neatly falling in line with this year's bulk of releases that explore the intersections between noise and dance music. Not exactly dancefloor-ready, the seven mostly brief pieces develop a coherent and pretty mesmerizing surge of sonic attacks. We've lured the 285 Kent regular, event orgainzer and photographer Erez Avissar (better known as Weird Magic) into our dearest city, and as he's teamed up with none other than our friends of Noisekölln, we're pretty sure a deadlier combination could not have been made. With him, NFOP favourites Teengirl Fantasy and Pictureplane will headline the event, also including sets by Aids-3D, Lotic, M.E.S.H, SFTSTPS and the excellent TCF, with sounds in between the sets curated by Weird Magic himself. The only downside of this? Well, it's on a Tuesday. Meaning we're all gonna have some pretty bad headaches going on during normal work hours on Wednesday, but oh well, it will be worth it. We promise.

Here are two brand new tracks from the rather excessive psych-electronic producer Mono/Poly, who have been crafting some extremely tasteful and colourful tunes in veins of the LA lifestyle since becoming a part of the always impressive Brainfeeder crew. "Winds Of Change" is a crunchy and texturous production that literally kicks the recent fashion of minimal beats and trap music right in its face, while the shorter jam "Queen Of Cups" plays with cinematic atmospherics over a less entangled beat.
