Video: Padang Food Tigers - “For Esmé”.

09 Apr 2012 — Jesse Thompson
Here's an enchanting track from the Padang Food Tigers titled "For Esmé". It's off their upcoming Ready Country Nimbus LP, which is being released by the wonderfully eclectic, Asheville, North Carolina based cassette and vinyl label Bathetic Records. The video, which was directed by Mark Kuykendall, is a perfectly charming accompaniment to the song's pensive, slightly wistful nature. Using what I assume is found footage, Kuykendall's visuals work well to enhance the already present nostalgia that the song itself conjures up, yielding a wonderfully fluid result. Stream the video below and visit Bathetic Records for more information about the upcoming release. Read more → Here's an enchanting track from the Padang Food Tigers titled "For Esmé". Stream: Blithe Field - Warm Blood.

09 Apr 2012 — Tonje Thilesen
There were days turning into weeks where I would listen to nothing but Blithe Field's Beautiful Wave '74 that I randomly stumbled upon on Bandcamp back in 2010, a beautiful and fragile album with some of the warmest and most honest bedroom pop I had heard in a while. Today, our good friends over at PORTALS just premiered the brand new Blithe Field album, Warm Blood, and we couldn't be more excited for you all to have a peak at it too. Get hazy. Ana Caprix: “City Gates Fog”.

09 Apr 2012 — Tonje Thilesen
Quite impressed by the dark, RnB infused productions of Ana Caprix that could in many ways lead back to the intelligent trance of Stay+ or the dark R&B of Ryan Hemsworth, so smoothly produced you feel rather blown away throughout the first listen. Behind the moniker is Tom Ensom, whom explains his references coming through internet surfing, pop music and of course, trance. Head over to Soundcloud to track down a few more of his dark arrangements. Video: SNOW WITE - “Psychedelic Days”.

07 Apr 2012 — Tonje Thilesen
I have to thank Sean Bowie (Teams) for discovering this in the first place — he's been pushing out e-mails about the music of his good friend SNOW WITE aka Andy Cary ever since he started putting it up on Soundcloud earlier this year. We got an obvious reference to Girls back when we heard the sunny California pop tune "Secret" a few months ago, however is "Psychedelic Days" (below) more rough and garagy, as perhaps in similarity to the rest of As Psychedelic Days Go By, available for free download via Wormhole Records. The physical tape can be ordered here. Mutual Benefit live at SXSW 2012.

07 Apr 2012 — Tonje Thilesen
After a few days of intensive partying and walking from showcase to showcase, we set up a spontaneous garden showcase in courtesy of Stadiums & Shrines, featuring bonfire, marshmallows and live music by Matthew Sage, Eola, Steffaloo, Little Spoon, Mutual Benefit and even a spontaneous acoustic set by Austin locals Sorne, who happened to live right next door to us. It was without doubt one of my favourite nights of SXSW, so for those of you who couldn't make it, we recorded a little part of Mutual Benefit (aka Jordan Lee)'s set, and hopefully he won't kill us for posting it here. Listen to the magic (and jokes) of Jordan himself below. Endless love to Nate McKee for the mastering. Setlist: Cowboy’s Prayer (last half) / Desert Island Feeling / Here / Exit / Animal Death Mask / Moonville Tunnel / Stargazer Mutual Benefit live at SXSW 2012 Read more → After a few days of intensive partying and walking from showcase to showcase, we set up a spontaneous garden showcase in courtesy of Stadiums & Shrines, featuring bonfire, marshmallows and live music by Matthew Sage, Eola, Steffaloo, Little Spoon, Mutual Benefit and even a spontaneous acoustic set by Austin locals Sorne, who happened to live right next door to us. Tropic of Pisces: “Symmetry”.

05 Apr 2012 — Jesse Thompson
Spring is here. It's almost time for Easter candy and all that good shit, and this popped-out, tropical dance track from Tropic of Pisces (a.k.a. Mathew Schelner of Mon Khmer & Oberhofer) titled "Symmetry" certainly possesses plenty of the pollen-coated zest typical of the season. It's a super enjoyable warm-weather track, and I imagine this tune will float effortlessly into the mid-summer months with all its beach trips, pool parties and late-afternoon BBQs. Stream "Symmetry" in all its joyful warmness below. Read more → Spring is here. Junior Electronics: “Mike McConnell”.

05 Apr 2012 — Henning Lahmann
Junior Electronics is the solo project of Brighton native Joe Watson, otherwise known as being responsible for engineering the last three Stereolab albums and also for performing as the supergroup's keyboarder. In any case, this is some truly beautiful, no-bullshit synth pop here, gentle and highly sophisticated arrangements that appear almost too polished for these realms, but on the other hand trenchantly remind us how these things are done properly, and there has never been anything wrong with that. Junior Electronics' sophomore full-length Musostics is out tomorrow on Hamburg-based Bureau B.
