We've done quite a bit Old Apparatus coverage last week, introducing the London collective for The Hague's Le Guess Who? festival and dropping a few words about "Dourado", a track off Harem, the final installment of the elusive group's EP trilogy, so suffice it to briefly point to the brand new video for "Mernom", another of the EP's four movements. Keeping things in line with Old Apparatus stunningly coherent, bleak aesthetics, director Nic Hamilton has created a literally breathtaking, highly compelling piece of visual art. Watch it below.

It's just good to see that someone's still doing these things: Watch a colourful, iridescent new video created by Logan Owlbeemoth for Meddicine's latest coldwave electronics extravaganza, "Night Child". This excellent piece of grim minimal, basically a bunch of fierce synth attacks and the artist's menacing whispering over a compellingly motorik groove, is part of the London-based solo musician's latest split 12" together with Vision Fortune, which is out today via Italian Beach Babes. Listen to Mr James Ferraro's latest work of twisted sonic art, two-track suite Hurting, which forms the exclusive bonus download material to his Rough Trade CD edition, which arrives in early January. So far we've remained silent on the hypnagogic godfather's latest statement Sushi, which does not at all mean that we do not like it, we're simply not sure if we've properly understood it yet, or if we're missing some hidden point here, so until we think we have, we'll just shut our mouths in reverence. We're also not sure why "Hurting #2" comes first, this might also hint at some deeper meaning. Although, probably not.

Ponderous names for unceremonious pop projects: Rough Days For Diamond Trade is the imaginative (and assumedly profound) if unwieldy moniker for the musical solo endeavour by Berlin via Copenhagen filmmaker Frederik Sølberg, whose debut EP Somehow is set to be released via elusive imprint Looking Forward in mid-December. As somehow expected, the project's output is all stylish and sophisticated and well-considered, not without some twisted edges but overall definitely airplay-ready. Watch the well-crafted video for first single "Anywhere" below and see for yourself. If things come across as a little bleak, that's just because we haven't had the time to start dancing yet. Now think about that.

Earlier this year in March, we reported about Athens duo .message, whose brooding, gloomy electronics as showcased on the first tracks "Stop" and "Under the Gun" knew pretty well which buttons to push. Two days ago, we finally managed to properly introduce one of our favourite musical endeavours of 2012, London-based artist collective Old Apparatus. The final EP of their trilogy of "solo" recordings has finally arrived, a four-track work named after its producer, who's only known under his nom de guerre Harem. We've written about the group's propensity to the darker shades before, but Harem nonetheless marks an even more definite and irreversible step towards bleakness. The EP's tracks feature a chilling ambience and transcendent remoteness that puts this effort in close proximity to the works of Raime or Demdike Stare. Penultimate track "Dourado" is particularly haunting with its dismal, post-euphoric tribalism that ends in a disconnected, ambiguous signal interference that seems to bury a distant cry of despair.
