In case you were still wondering if you needed Melbourne outfit Pageants' debut cassette that we'd introduced last Monday, here are two further arguments that you do. Crushin' Diamonds With Her Teeth and Portuguese are both perfect jangly surf pop anthems, drenched in beautiful harmonies and with a captivating overall energy. And with lines like You've been away so long, I bet you can speak Portuguese, their lyrics deserve some extra credit, too. So hesitate no longer, head over to Night People and place your order.

Neon Black & the Prisms is mainly the project of Long Beach, California resident Sim Jackson Jr. III, live joined by Orion Webb on bass and Chris West on drums. After being part of the Southern Cali punk scene for a short time, Jackson rejected their overall lo-fi attitude and came up with Neon Black & the Prisms which he describes as something between post punk, psychedelia, and shoegaze, and though we indeed see quite a variety of styles blended into Jackson's tunes, we'd consider it idle to discuss this any further as the bottom line is without any doubt simple yet stupendously brilliant pop music, and that's all we're here for after all.

South Carolina's Evan Adams aka Top Girls keeps on dropping new gems like no one's business, and this very morning he came up with his latest Spells, a relaxed but rather upbeat piece that features Evan's signature distant vocals drenched in reverb, accompanied by splendid synth melodies and nice samples, cut off and chopped up, three minutes of building tension until the whole thing falls apart again. Delicious.

Introducing: Paul A Rosales

27 Jul 2010 — Henning Lahmann

Though Paul Andrew Rosales from Orange City, California, has a decent myspace, it has turned out that it's still actually not very easy to track him down, as he also has another one. So when I first tried to reach him after posting his wonderful Crimes on my first All My Friends mix two weeks ago, I obviously caught the wrong one, though www.myspace.com/paul_a_rosales appeared to be right on such a blatant level.

In any case, long story cut short, it needed Paul's intervention to get in touch with me, and now everyone's happy. Yesterday saw the release of Paul A Rosales' first proper LP Wonder Wheel I on Care In The Community Recordings, which is in fact a collection of tunes that have been recorded between 2006 and 2009. The twelve tracks are pretty lo-fi, but in line with the other seriously gifted artists of his class (yes, you may think of Nite Jewel now), the recording technique does not appear as a mere means to show off insipid nostalgia, but rather seems to be an honest and distinct approach to music itself, and in this case the result is a stunning and beautiful collection of songs with a perfect pop sensibility that won't leave your head for days - She Tells Me and Purple will give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Wonder Wheel I is an amazing introduction to a very talented young artist and highly recommended, and rumor has it that we won't have to wait too long to hear more.

Knoxville's Yung Life are Elliot White and Will Farner, and there brand new tune Patient Love just hit me and left me dazzled with its brilliant blend of washed out synths, distant percussion and an overall splendid fuzziness that gives way to the guys' sweetest vocals that speak the eternal truth.

Yung Life's EP I Be Scared When I Be by Myself is available for free via their bandcamp.

On Sunday, this absolute diamond of a tune popped up in the interwebs and subsequently put a smile on the faces of all folks that have an ear for the world's beauties, and the only reason it took me two days to come up with this otherworldly collaboration between Dylan Dawkins aka Persona La Ave and Kiss Kiss Fantastic's Rachel Levy is that only now I was finally able to break the spell and leave this wonderful state of dizziness to find those words again: Listen. Now.
