Watch the first video for our most beloved Ghost Animal's debut cassette Summertime In Heaven, out soon on Orchid Tapes, directed by the amazing Tyler T Williams. Once again, we're officially psyched.

A man of many talents.

Lee Noble lives in Los Angeles, and when he's not making delightful drone ambient stuff (his most recent outputs of this direction can be downloaded for free via his bandcamp - I'd recommend you do), Noble makes some kind of laid back garage music, beautiful tunes consisting of hazy guitar melodies, occasional tape noises, very reduced percussion and some subtle synth work, sometimes a little beachy without ever overtly jumping on the bandwagon, all in all this is lo-fi pop in the best sense. His latest record Creeping Death Fever has been released by La Station Radar on handmade CDr with artwork by the master himself, limited to 50 copies. Listen to three of the eight tunes below, including a wonderful Bowie/Pop cover.

Moreover, Noble has recently started the tiny tape label No Kings. For sure something to keep in mind as well.

Thanks to the impeccable folks over at Double Denim for guiding the way to Old Arc, an apparently seriously fresh duo from Santa Cruz, California. We can't even decide which of the five songs from their self-titled EP we like most, all are sample heavy synth monsters with the right amount of psych and soul and experimental extravaganza to keep us listening over and over, so here are only two of them, but make sure you grab the splendid rest of their debut over at bandcamp.

Old Arc - Chief of Sun

Railcars x Paul A Rosales

NFOP darling Aria Jalali alias railcars has remixed one of the tunes of our favourite album this week, Paul A Rosales' Wonder Wheel I. Changed Faster is now even more restless and mind altering after Jalali's cautious yet distinct re-working - an amazing collaboration of two of California's finest.

BAnanas Symphony is the solo project of Philadelphia's Yohsuke Araki who is otherwise a member of the wonderful psych pop outfit Blackhawks which is somehow also entangled in that certain scene around Dan Svizeny's Cough Cool and Nude Beach. Now until someone finds the time to explain this nuclear fusion of mind-boggling talent and creativity to me in more detail, suffice it to say that BAnanas Symphony's new tunes Dumb Teenage Love and It's Coming Around are both dream pop in the most intriguing way, full of longing and with just the right hint of melancholy, the latter one drenched in reverb making it almost classic shoegaze, while the former has a twisted tropical rhythm that pretends joyfulness while ashamedly hiding the sadness that lies beyond.

After a week of fame and glory rising a million miles an hour, Lavurn Lee aka Guerre somehow found the time to produce another unbelievable gem between all these verbal strokes. Dress You Down is a splendid, slow burning tune that will, in one way or the other, make love to you, so get ready to be seduced.

The life and death of a man called Hooray!

29 Jul 2010 — Henning Lahmann

The myspace description says all we need to know: Craig Cruiser is hailing from the beautiful Netherlands, judging from the hyperactive yet blissed out first tune Tubing probably raised in some Amsterdam coffee shop, and somehow the dude has made a whole lot of money so now he records music on his 1.2 million dollar yacht, sailing the seven seas. Lush life.

Except that it's not true.

As you'll certainly know, NFOP is all about tough-minded investigation, so after a sleepless night we're pretty sure to be on the safe side by telling you now that Craig Cruiser is in fact Ben Wagner's new project, cause before we ever had a real opportunity to cover his wonderful last one Hooray! (though this might be the right time to call attention to Hooray's much appraised debut cassette Bedroom Adventures which is right now available via Wonder Beard Tapes), Wagner has declared that it's gone. For good. But before y'all drown in sorrow, I'd suggest you take a listen to the successor, and I promise the sun will shine again.
